Hello everybody!! I am back with another post. Well I was checking out some Instagram posts related to food the other day and I came across so many people who made rice recipe in their own way. I was starving after seeing all those photos…so I decided to make my own version of rice…Now this is not something that I have invented and the credits of the recipe doesn’t go to me but it’s just how I like my rice. So let’s get started.

It took me around 30-35 minutes to prepare for this dish and it was cooked in 30 minutes. It served 5-6 people.


The things you will need are :

For preparing rice and cooking the rice :

  1.  2 cups of basmati rice, 400 grams
  2. 4 cups of fresh water, 900 ml

For preparing vegetables :

  1. Cottage cheese/Paneer, 200 grams, cut into cubes
  2. Capsicum/ Bell pepper, 1 medium size, finely chopped
  3. Onion, 1 large size, finely chopped
  4. Tomato, 1 medium size, finely chopped
  5. Oregano, 0.5 tsp
  6. Black pepper, 0.5 tsp
  7. Red pepper. 0.5 tsp
  8. Kitchen king masala (optional), 0.5 tsp
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Oil for cooking the vegetables, 2 tbsp

For cooking the dish :

  1.  Prepared rice
  2. Prepared vegetables
  3. Oregano, 0.5 tsp
  4. Black pepper, 0.5 tsp
  5. Red pepper. 0.5 tsp
  6. Salt to taste


Preparing the rice :

Now first I had to make the hero of the dish – rice.

  •  I took 2 cups of basmati rice in a bowl and began to rinse the rice grains in the running water. Rinse the rice very well with gentle swirling of your fingers in the bowl. Rinse the rice till the water becomes clear, transparent and without starch.
  • Then I soaked the rice in 4 cups of fresh drinking water (double the rice) for or about 30 minutes. Soaking is essential so do not skip this step.

Cooking the rice :

  • Pour the soaked rice in a medium size saucepan with the same water you soaked in as it was fresh drinking water.
  • Cook the rice for about 15 minutes starting with high flame till it reaches a boil and then turn the heat on low flame.
  • Note : keep checking the rice time to time until done.
  • Take out the rice in a strainer.

Preparing the vegetables:

  • First, you need to take the cubes of cottage cheese or paneer in a medium sized bowl.
  • Add all the spices to the cubed paneer. Keep it aside.
  • After this take a large/medium pan and pour 2 tbsp oil in it and add the chopped vegetables to it. First add capsicum, give it a mix. Then add onion to it, give it a mix and lastly add the tomatoes and give it a mix.
  • Keep stirring them for about 2 minutes.
  • Add the marinated paneer to the vegetables and cook them for 3-4 minutes.

Cooking the dish :

  • Add the rice to the same pan as vegetables. Mix it all together.
  • Add the spices and give it a last mix.

Your dish is ready!!!

I used all different types of vegetables to make it colorful. I used the spices according to my taste and I like it a little spicy. You can adjust the vegetables and spices according to your likes and dislikes.
